New in ICON: Simplify note taking with Note Depot

The University of Iowa introduced Note Depot, a centralized platform in ICON designed to simplify access to note-taking resources for students and instructors. Note Depot has two distinct features that include an option to leverage artificial intelligence to generate notes from recorded UICapture lectures and a note-taking exchange that allows designated individuals to contribute class notes. Note Taking Exchange: Facilitates note sharing by allowing designated individuals to contribute class notes. Notetakers must be approved by the instructor before their notes can be shared through the exchange.

New for Fall 2025: final exam duration options

In an effort to enhance the flexibility and effectiveness of final exams, the university is introducing new options for exam durations starting in fall 2025. This initiative aims to better align exam lengths with course requirements and improve the overall student experience. Instructors will be asked to choose from one of three exam duration options: 60, 80, or 120 minutes.

Student Disability Services to join Office of the Provost

Student Disability Services (SDS), which currently operates within the Division of Student Life, will transition to the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost on July 1, 2025. This administrative change will not impact the services SDS provides or the staff who deliver them.
