Tips on Reaching Out to Your Instructor

Student Disability Services suggests using the below tips to compose the email you send to your instructors about your accommodations:

  1. Be sure to include a subject line and use your University of Iowa email account.
  2. Introduce yourself and the course you are enrolled in. Instructors often teach multiple courses, so specify the course you are taking and include the section.
  3. Let them know you are registered with Student Disability Services and have attached your Letter of Accommodation to the email.
  4. Request a time to discuss the accommodations you are requesting and how they will be implemented.  Ask them how the meeting will occur such as over Zoom, in person, etc.
